THE MECHANICS OF BEING BORN AGAIN
The study deeper into the mechanics of being born again in Christ Jesus we're gonna look into the Scriptures as well as into theology hopefully we'll weed out any of the errors that has developed over the past 2000 years in Christendom. And focus on New Testament realities of the Borne against spirit.
Being born again, or regeneration, is a supernatural, internal transformation executed by the Holy Spirit when a believer receives the LORD by placeing saving faith in Jesus Christ.
The Biblical Foundation
The foundational text for the new birth is John 3:1–21, where Jesus tells the Pharisee Nicodemus, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God".
Though this is debatable most scholars agree that the human race, even though was born physically alive is spiritually dead and trespasses and sins as a descendent of Adam. Therefore no amount of religious ritual acts of service could cause a human being born spiritual death, and in the sin state can transform themselves through acts of service into another spiritual being it simply doesn't work that way. Biblically speaking this is referred to as works. Works that earn salvation with God. Romans teaches us that we cannot do enough works to be saved. We must be born again.
Because the human race is fallen and our sinful nature is resistant to God, even to religious compliance good works, or moral improvement cannot earn spiritual life. This is why the death Brown and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is remembered through the act of communion elements of the covenant Jesus established on the night that he was being betrayed and crucified.
The Mechanics of the New Birth
According to the New Testament, the "mechanics"—or the spiritual process—unfolds through specific divine and human components:
The Word of God speaks of being born of water end of the spirit. This is echoing Ezekiel's Old Testament promise of God, sprinkling clean water, removing the heart of stone and given a new heart and is in dwelling Holy Spirit.
Regeneration itself is an act of GOD —meaning it is initiated and performed by God but is ignited by the freewill choice of a believer that has received the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, his death, burial, and Resurrection. Once the human spirit opens up to receive the work of God, then God changes the human heart from hard and rebellious because it has its own send full nature to a soft and responsive, divine nature.
The instrument is faith, a personal deep conviction, conceived by the word of God in birthed by the declaration that Jesus Jesus Christ is the individual's personal Lord and Savior. Once again, God performs the inner transformation. The moment the individual receives the word of grace that produces repentance from that works and faith toward God in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Believe in Jesus Christ, substitutionary death and resurrection is the human response that triggers God's response in the greatest miracle anyone could ever experience the new birth.
The resulting fruit, the evidence of the new birth is an outward transformation. The old sin ruled identity passes away, and a new nature emerges naturally producing the fruit of the spirit. It changed well and new affection towards God and fellow, born again spirits.
So quick preview of what will explore in this Bible study of being born again is in:
John 3:3 – – "Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Jesus states even to see the kingdom of God requires being born again.
John 3:5& 6 – – Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. -- Rebirth of water, and the spirit is necessary to enter God's kingdom.
2 Corinthians 5:17– – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Believers in Christ our new creations were the old person has passed away and all things have become new.
1 Peter 1:23 – – Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
This rebirth comes through the enduring word of God rather than a perishable seed and most definitely Not by religious works to earn it. In modern terms, we have God's DNA on the inside of us. Restoring us back to what God intended in the garden of Eden.
Titus 3:5 – – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Salvation comes through the washing of the regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
1 John 39:51 – – Whoever has been born of God does not (habitually and willfully violate light) sin, for His (DNA) seed remains in him (or her as a believer) ; and he cannot (habitually and willfully violate light) sin, because he has been born (again) of God.
Believers receive the right to become children of God. Once they are born again spiritually not by the human will but by the Divine courtship the will of God.
John 3:3 – – Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Jesus answered him truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot even see the kingdom of God.
See Nicodemus came to Jesus at night secretly and talked about salvation. He said Rabbi we know that you are a teacher comes from God for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with them you'll find that in – – John 3:2.
Now Nicodemus was confused that Jesus was referring to him entering back into his mother's room to be born again the word born again indicates that it's a work of God, as the Greek word says, born from above, so every child of God is born from above by God's will so no one can take credit for it or boast over to brag about it. It's not done through religious works or being good enough. It's simply receipt by faith -- Ephesians 2: 8–9.
1 Peter 1: 22–23 – – having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth, for a sincere brotherly love, loved one another Ernestly from a pure heart since you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.
The apostle Peter pinpoints what it means to be born again, actually the source of what it means to be born again, it is an imperishable Seed which comes by the living and abiding word of God and shows us again that the source of being born again, or the new birth comes only by God's word not through experiences not through other people's experience, but our own personal biblical revelation from the word of God.
Colossians 2:13 – – and you who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcised of your flesh, God made live together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.
What does Paul mean by while we were dead in our trespasses? Paul's referring to spiritual death that Christ died while we were yet sinners, God gave love first, even if we didn't choose to serve him. It's the part where we hear God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son that whomever believed would receive eternal life – – John 3:16. You see why we were still sinners Christ died for us. He died for all of the human race. Every single person that ever lived and will live. Christ died for us all, however, only those who make Covenant with Him benefit. This is why our mantra in REDEMPTIONCORPS INTERNATIONAL is 2C5, which comes from 2 Corinthians chapter 5. God was in Christ Jesus, reconciled the world to himself, not counting our trespasses against us. He paid the whole hell debt for the entire human race. This is why the Bible will say that people will be weeping and gnashing their teeth in hell because the sad reality is that they didn't have to be there, but they chose to love the darkness rather than the light.
John 3:6–7 – – That which is born of the flesh, is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit of spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, you must be born again.
Jesus is speak to Nicodemus endeavoring to explain to him that he must be born of the Holy Spirit. Jesus use the word Spirit, as a personal pronoun, meaning this is the person is the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. This reveals to us that this is not about religious works. It is about an accepting the word of God as truth, receiving the work of the death burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, by faith we clinging to and trusting in and relying on his redemptive blood. This is all our righteousness, nothing but the blood of Jesus.
1 Peter 1:2–4 – – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you...
The apostle Peter is telling us that it is: God alone who saves so he alone deserves all the glory. This inheritance received by faith reserved for all who repent and trust in Christ as part of the new birth. It's a down payment of our total and complete redemption into the next age of God and the body of Christ.
