ARTICLE II — GOD THE FATHER

Section 1. The One Living and True God

REDEMPTIONCORPS INTERNATIONAL believes, proclaims, and teaches that there is only one living and true God, eternal in existence, infinite in being, perfect in His attributes, holy in character, absolute in truth, and perfect in love. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Lord of all things visible and invisible.

God is self-existent, everlasting, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, immutable, and sovereign. He possesses all wisdom and knowledge, exercises all power consistent with His divine nature and will, and reigns over His creation without being subject to any authority greater than Himself.

He is righteous in all His ways, faithful to His Word, just in His judgments, merciful toward His creation, and steadfast in His covenant promises.

Section 2. God Is Spirit, Love, and Truth

We affirm that God is Spirit and is to be worshipped in spirit and in truth. He is not confined to a physical body, geographical location, or created order. His divine presence extends throughout His creation, and His knowledge and sovereignty are without limitation.

We affirm that God is love. His love is holy, righteous, faithful, and pure. He does no evil, and His commandments are consistent with His righteous character. His love was manifested toward humanity through the sending of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who was given as the propitiation for our sins so that we might have life through Him.

God is also absolute in truth. He neither lies nor acts contrary to His holy nature. His Word is trustworthy, His judgments are righteous, and His promises are faithful.

Section 3. The Names and Self-Revelation of God

We affirm that God has revealed His nature, authority, character, covenant faithfulness, and mighty works through the names and titles recorded in Holy Scripture. These names provide insight into His relationship with His people and His dealings with humanity.

We acknowledge the following biblical names and traditional renderings of the names and titles of God:

Elohim — God, the Creator and Mighty One.
El Shaddai — God Almighty.
El Elyon — God Most High.
Adonai — Lord and Master.
YHWH (Yahweh) — The divine name revealed in Scripture and associated with God's covenant identity; traditionally rendered LORD in many English Bibles.
Jehovah Nissi — The LORD My Banner.
Jehovah Raah — The LORD My Shepherd.
Jehovah Rapha — The LORD That Heals.
Jehovah Shammah — The LORD Is There.
Jehovah Tsidkenu — The LORD Our Righteousness.
Jehovah Mekoddishkem — The LORD Who Sanctifies You.
El Olam — The Everlasting God.
Qanna — Jealous, expressing God's exclusive covenant claim upon His people.
Jehovah Jireh — The LORD Will Provide.
Jehovah Shalom — The LORD Is Peace.
Jehovah Sabaoth — The LORD of Hosts.

We affirm that these names and titles do not represent separate gods, but reveal aspects of the identity, character, authority, and works of the one living God.

He is the self-existent God who declared to Moses, “I AM THAT I AM.” He is the God who delivers His people from bondage, provides for their needs, heals, sanctifies, shepherds, establishes righteousness, and remains present with His people.

Section 4. The Divine Attributes of God

We affirm that the following attributes belong to the one living God and are essential to our understanding of His eternal nature and sovereign character.

A. Eternal and Self-Existent

God has no beginning and no end. He exists from everlasting to everlasting, depending upon no created thing for His existence. He is the great I AM, the self-existent and everlasting God.

B. Omniscient — All-Knowing

God possesses perfect and complete knowledge. Nothing is hidden from Him, and His wisdom and understanding are beyond human measure. He knows all things according to His divine nature and eternal wisdom.

C. Omnipotent — Almighty

God is Almighty and possesses unlimited power to accomplish all that is consistent with His divine nature, wisdom, righteousness, and will. No created power can overthrow His sovereign purposes.

D. Omnipresent — Present Everywhere

God is not confined by space or geographical boundaries. His presence extends throughout His creation, and no place lies beyond His knowledge, sustaining power, or divine presence.

E. Immutable — Unchanging in His Nature

God is unchanging in His divine nature, holiness, truth, and faithfulness. He remains steadfast in His promises and righteous in His character. His unchanging nature does not prevent Him from acting within history or responding to humanity according to His eternal wisdom and will.

F. Sovereign — Supreme in Authority

God reigns over all creation. His authority is supreme, His judgments are righteous, and His purposes are governed by His perfect wisdom. He is not subject to any created authority greater than Himself.

G. Holy and Righteous

God is perfectly holy, without sin or moral corruption. His judgments are righteous, His ways are just, and He calls His people to holiness and obedience.

H. Love and Truth

God is the source and perfect standard of love and truth. His love is manifested in His redemptive work, and His truth establishes the foundation for faith, righteousness, and godly living.

Section 5. God the Father and His Relationship with His People

We affirm that God is revealed in Scripture as the Father, who is in heaven and whose name is to be hallowed. Through faith in Jesus Christ and the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, those who are born again are brought into a reconciled relationship with God and may know Him as their heavenly Father.

He loves, sustains, corrects, guides, and provides for His children according to His perfect wisdom and will. He hears the prayers of His people, upholds the oppressed, provides for the needy, and commands His people to reflect His righteousness, mercy, and love in their dealings with others.

We confess that the Father is worthy of reverence, worship, obedience, thanksgiving, and wholehearted devotion. His fatherhood is a source of comfort and assurance to believers and a call to faithful living before Him.

Section 6. God the Creator, Deliverer, and Sustainer

We affirm that God created the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them. He sustains His creation, preserves truth, executes righteous judgment, and remains sovereign over the affairs of humanity.

He is the God who delivered Israel from bondage in Egypt and commanded His people to worship Him alone, having no other gods before Him. His mighty acts reveal His power, faithfulness, justice, and covenant love.

God's concern for the oppressed, the hungry, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow reveals His righteous character and establishes a moral responsibility for His people to practice justice, compassion, generosity, and faithful service.

Formal Doctrinal Declaration

REDEMPTIONCORPS INTERNATIONAL believes, proclaims, and teaches that there is one living and true God, eternal, self-existent, holy, righteous, loving, truthful, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, immutable, and sovereign over all creation.

We affirm that He is Elohim, the Almighty and Most High God, the great I AM, Creator and Sustainer of all things, Deliverer of His people, and the heavenly Father of those who are born again through faith in Jesus Christ.

We acknowledge the biblical names and titles by which God has revealed His character, covenant faithfulness, authority, and works. We confess that He alone is God, that His name is holy, that His Word is true, and that His sovereign authority extends over all creation.

We commit ourselves to worshipping Him in spirit and in truth, honoring His holiness, trusting His promises, obeying His Word, and reflecting His love and righteousness in the life and ministry of REDEMPTIONCORPS INTERNATIONAL CHURCH.

We believe in the one living and true God, whose kingdom is everlasting, whose wisdom is without limit, whose power is almighty, whose presence fills His creation, and whose love and truth endure forever.
